Heart Place is our umbrella organisation. Here you can find a Timetable of Mind-Body Activities & Event Calendar. The work of Heart Place supports families, communities, and workplaces in developing life skills that build resilience. We focus on both a healing and preventative level for individuals and communities. Heart Place is specifically interested in building capacity to work with trauma, grief, loneliness, belonging, embodiment through educational trainings and mind body practices. Our vision and mission is to support the capacities needed for compassionate response to suffering and distress.
We are proud partners of Act-Belong-Commit. Visit their Activity Finder to find an accessible event, and the Resources page is Jam packed with a variety of resources to support good mental health and wellbeing.
"Keeping mentally healthy is just as important as staying physically healthy. Nature Play WA is full of inspiring resources, things to do and services to encourage you and your family to get out and about and enjoy our relationship with the land.
Here are some resources and suggestions for Slowing down. We all need slow times to balance our nervous system to shift to rest and digest, for healing, connecting and daydreaming. Slowing down builds resilience and well being. It helps us to not accumulate stress and to keep perspective with our core values and choices in life. There are many ways to slow down daily with practices for deep resting, mindful pauses, sitting or walking in nature, looking out the window with the cat. Taking time for retreat to connect to nature or find renewed perspective we recommend as an essential part of your yearly rhythm. In times of Covid we can explore and deepen our relationship our local regions.

Here is an Australian Based Website that looks interesting:
We have specifically listed this website and the work of Richard Louv as we believe nature is our greatest resource for wellbeing and healing. Richards work has had wide impact which can be seen in Nature Play park areas and networks in WA as listed above. Stay tune as we add more nature based resources. Richard has written 10 books and we encourage you to read:
"Last Child in the Woods", "The Nature Principle- Reconnecting with Life in a Virtual Age" and his most recent "Our Wild Calling- How Connecting With Animals Can Transform Our Lives—and Save Theirs". Richard coined the term 'Nature Deficit Disorder'.
Best of all give yourself a daily dose of sunshine, visit the beach at least once a week if you can or a local river or lake. Go for a hike or spend time where possible walking barefoot in your local park. Maybe there is a local Walking Club. Another nature based activity is listening to birds , the sound of the ocean, and simply the wind in the trees.
Visit Linda Graham's website Resources for Recovering Resilience for free resources, and you can order her book: 'Bouncing Back - Rewiring your Brain for Maximum Resilience & Well Being' which is packed with practices to build resilience.
"Resilience is our innate capacity to face and handle life's challenges, whether everyday disappointments or extraordinary disasters. Bouncing Back integrates brain science, relational psychology and mindfulness practices to help you change for the better old patterns of coping encoded in your neural circuity and to develop new ways to respond to pressures and tragedies quickly, adaptively, and effectively."
